Do Your Cars Have Vehicle Survival Kits?

Few of us are really prepared for any eventuality that might befall us. We might like to think that we lead ordinary lives and don’t put ourselves in any danger, but in doing so we forget that we should expect the unexpected. There are very real dangers around every corner and we should be prepared.

We can see evidence on the Internet or on the television news to teach us that ordinary people get into trouble every day. At the time, it is unlikely that they considered that they were in any peril, but something adverse happened and they became stranded in their car. The fortunate ones were happy that they had vehicle survival kits to come to their aid.

If you live in colder climes, a sudden winter snowstorm or one of those dangerous icy rain events could leave you stranded for a considerable period of time. With vehicle survival kits at hand you will have a much better time waiting for help and may even be able to protect the lives of you and your car occupants.

A journey through the outback on unfamiliar roads can turn sour really quickly if you take a wrong turning, get lost or get stuck in mud, for example. You do not know how long you may be stranded and could even be stuck overnight. In this case, all your occupants will need a certain amount of food, water, some emergency blankets and you may even need a tube tent or a bivvy sack within your vehicle survival kits as you await rescue.

If you find that you are unable to remain in the car when you are stranded somewhere, an emergency blanket is an amazing help to stop you getting hypothermia. These items reflect your own body heat and allow you to remain alert to your situation. Make sure that you buy the best quality that you can as when you are under pressure in a strange place, everything will depend on it.

Vehicle survival kits must include enough emergency food and water for the average number of occupants that you normally carry and for a number of days or nights. Without a means of replenishing your energy reserves you will not be able to retain enough body heat and will quickly become dehydrated and exhausted.

Think of all the situations that could arise when preparing vehicle survival kits for your cars or trucks. A shovel would be one of the first thoughts, to help you dig yourself out of a predicament and you should definitely carry a first aid kit, as injuries may be more likely if you are trying to actively extract yourself from your situation.

Always ensure that your essentials are with you, as you will not always have the opportunity to run out and pick something up that you’re forgotten. Therefore, the vehicle survival kits are a necessity and not a luxury.
